Dengue virus is mainly transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, and causes dengue fever. The infection of dengue virus may cause sudden fever, severe muscle pain, bone and joint pain in mild cases, and dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome in severe cases, resulting in infection mortality of up to 50%.
